I have a mod(s) I'm making for BF Vietnam (well, it's actually a bit easier to mod the 1942) and when the mod is loaded, there is no background video. Which file am I missing?

There is always nothing in this corner :)
I would suggest posting it in the wrong spot (namely the bf1942 modding discussion) Then It will get seen, moved, and hopefully answered. :D

Same as BF1942, BFV uses "background.bik" for the background video played in the background. Some mods don't use a video and use a background.tga file instead. If it's a texture BFV recognizes, it will be loaded if it's got the correct name.

That's how the vanilla BFV mod folder is set up, so it's safe to assume mods would use a file like this too.

However if for some reason still doesn't work (background.bik goes in the Movies folder of your mod), then the maker of the mod might have altered the path for the video in the menu's meme files. Which will not be as simple to fix unfortunately.

But you mentioned that you are the maker of the mods that have this issue, so meme file changes seem unlikely at this point. So most likely just missing the background.bik file.

ah, makes sense. so background videos don't make it through calling other mods in the init.?

It is veerrry easy to do. First, get a video you want. Second, convert the video to bik file using Rad video tools. Third, place the video in the movies folder in your mods folder, e.g Battlefield vietnam/mods/{your mod folder}/movies. Place it there, it will work. If it doesn't, the extract the game.rfa from Archives/ Bfvietnam folder.
