Having issues creating a new RFA Folder in RFA Explorer

Post by Czar_Alek »

Hello,
I am trying to do learn some simple SSMs. This is my first time modding anything.

I am trying to create a RFA called "Kharakov_001". I have tried everything I can possibly think of to make such a folder, but I always get error messages when I try.

I have looked at all the guides on how to prepare the files, and I just can't figure out anything. Could someone please give me a hand. What I need is someone to explain the steps EXTREMELY simply, I am an idiot when it comes to modding and such...

I am using Win8.1, if that makes any difference.

Maybe you have already tried it but run the program with admin rights.

Similar to what he said...

- Make sure you run the program as Administrator.
- Make sure the RFA file is not Read-Only if you are saving over an existing RFA.
- Make sure you have Read/Write permissions to work within that directory.

I tried running RFA Explorer in Admin mode, but it would not function properly.

Since I have an old Laptop running Vista, I will try to see if it will work on there... Thanks for the help so far.

Oh yuck, Vista. That might be part of the problem, and it might not.
Right now, Windows 7/8 works well
Windows xp works very well, because it's stable and Microsoft isn't updating it anymore. That's a plus within itself. :)

I haven't tried it on vista yet.

Win8.1 has been giving me so many issues lately, Empire Earth, Roller Coaster Tycoon, and some other games wouldn't work, I might as well try RFA explorer in some other OS because I use my old laptop nearly as much as my new one now!

But I guess it is dumb even attempting since others have not been having any issues running RFA Explorer in Win8...

I'd say try a different RFA program, there's one floating around the forums here, and I use it rather well.
Its uses are limited, but it does its job; packing and unpacking.

I was not aware of another RFA Editing program existing. Thank you, I will check it out in the morning.

Can anyone confirm that this is what I should be downloading?
