A little car I'm working on for an interstate map where everything is huge.. ..you have shrunk
everything else in the environment is to scale with the packet..
Its one of very few things I have tried to uvmap properly.. cigarette pack is nice and simple..
..rendered with excessive amounts of DOF of course..

unwrap for this.. i usually go down the uvmap route as you get quicker results and Im normally only making large structural things where you can get away with a quick skin.

Yea I only use unwrap as a last resort you can do unbelievable things with just map
example
the people I showed this model to be4 skinning laughed at me and said "good luck"
I textured it in 8 mins
But unwrap is a very useful modifier to know, depending on the model it can make all the difference
I just personally haven't had much use for it but im glad I know it

Nice car
Dont forget the paper boat and plane
@ Texturing.
I always use the Unwrap Modifier wich is pretty wasteful for making game textures. Do you know a good tutorial to work with "tiles" or some other techniques?

with the unwrap you are working with tiles, just dont see them, the tiles are the mapping, its a ton of tiles over the model, but the two main ways to texture is uvw unrwap and uvwmap

Couple more renders.. I have added the bottle-top steering wheel, wine-cork wheels and the Zippo nitro booster.. the zippo texture is for the envmapped in game view which looks pretty good... shiny/scratched.
Ive had to scale down the bottle top too much though to work well with the player so might go for a button instead

A rollbar out of a bunch of straws
Yep a button would look better. Don't forget the match gear selector^^
