That tool was always a bit unreliable I thought even with original assets... so perhaps just something a bit off in the objects / geometries file confusing the importer

The game likes it.. but the max tool doesn't

at a guess.

update for 2017 please :lol: but on a serious note.. i get script errors on export.. literally just installed this evening.. Any pointers to get this running right? ***edit*** ran max as admin and it seems to have worked... although i also did a lot or file replacing and swapping.. just sayin. not e...

i had this issue with wrong matid's on objects. I honestly forget now if the mesh was bugged or the tools were at fault. Its incredibly annoying though

Resolution of the heightmap image is limited to 1024x1024 pixels.. 2048 will work too but causes bugs / problems.. In terms of actual area, Ive had 64km x 64km map running - so very big if you want.. but of course results in low definition terrain when using the above heightmap resolutions yes, big ...

These days... my view is take and use all existing assets you can - whilst giving credit where due..

The worst that would happen is someone asking you to remove their asset from your mod... chances of that happening.. must be less than zero.
