Looks like the day it was made, everyone who was looking for a forum, found it.
A picture is worth a thousand words, but takes up three thousand times the memory.

It was short after the meteor hit, those of us that survived the following outbrake took a vow to help all bf modders and to try and stop those that got infected by the evil maphack_aimbot_nofog virus of death.

There used to be an older forum by the name of ServerSideModding.com where a lot us old timers had spent our time asking questions and answering them much like we do here on this forum.
There was some hoop la and such going on with the site owner and the site's domain was nearly lost. WhyToKay I think was the original admin of that forum and he pulled some jerk moves near the end and just dropped the site and moved on. Luckily, Fo0k managed to pick up the domain and forum database and archived it so nothing much was lost. BFMods forums was the successor to that forum. So me along with many others registered around the same time when the forum first came up.
If you're curious as to what the old forum looked like from back before the modding apocalypse, it's still accessible here:
http://battlefieldmodding.com/ssm/phpBB3/
(it's archived only, so you can't create a new account or post new replies. It's frozen in time and is a snapshot of all the various tutorials and old goodies people found out about BF1942 )
http://www.serversidemodding.com seems to still be an active domain. It will just redirect to bfmods forum if you use that URL.
It's been awhile, so I am fuzzy on the details on what went down with SSM forums. Fo0k would be the better person to ask about this, he's the main guy who runs this forum and was responsible for creating it and saving ServerSideModding from being lost.
Also just noticed my post count has recently exceeded the original post count I had on the old SSM forums.

i liked my explanation better
but yeah why two kay dropped off and left the forum to some random guy that seemed to be a total jerk, started popping up commercials like everywhere, in the threads between posts to if i remember it right
also there started up threads like about hacking thingys or something, very bad mojo.

Well, it is better than that one day the spam bot figured out the sign up...
there were 3 pages (!) of new "people" that day.
yeah, that sucked. (I made it suck more. I'm still very sorry about that)
