Trying to add new faction

Post by jdc527 »

Hey I have a problem with adding the French from xpack1 to the vanilla game. I have all the files extracted, copied, packed, etc. that need to be but when I try to load something up with the French army as the team2, game crashes back to bc42 (if testing) or ctd in actual game. What could I be doing wrong?

Can you walk us through what files you tried to add? Also, using the Debugger would be a good first start to pinpoint the problem.
See my Strasbourg map project here.

I used the files/folders associated with the French from rye. So all of those. Soldier, kit, etc. and the animation files and everything like that. Due to my windows 10 even in compatibility mode, the debugger will never ever run. Is there a solution to that issue?

The debugger needs a cd in the pc to run. Doest need to be a real cd, you can mount a bf1942 iso and the debugger should then r,un. Bf1942 iso's are easy to find on the internet

So Diamondback,
I am trying to add the French to a specific map I am creating. I have all the files and folders relating to that faction such asAnimations (.ske and such), menu folder stuff, objects (items, soldier folders), sounds for the french in all three kb, the standard mesh, texture. and an objects.con to tell bf42 what to run from where. When I have added it all and saved through the add to archive and archive manager, saved, unpacked, repacked, then try to run it; immediate CTD after a couple seconds of loading the map. Any ideas of what could be wrong?

For the debugger I have tried creating an iso of bf42 from the disc copy I don't use, and nothing works for that process
