i'm running a standard bf1942 1.61 windows server, and would like to protect it against those hacker / crash attacks that started marring the '42 community about 9 months ago

is it correctly understood, that all i have to do, is to grab this exe :

and then just replace the regular / stock BF1942_w32ded.exe with this one ?

Yes. That server executable is patched to protect against 2 exploits.
