Swaffy'sMod - Server related problems?

Post by Swaffy »

I was told by someone that my mod has a bunch of bugs when they try to play locally on a server. The thing is, my mod seems perfectly fine to me because I never play my mod on any servers (it's always by myself, alone).

I would like to ask if anyone can do some server related testing for my mod. Just to play it, making a list of what screws up. I have no clue what causes these bugs and I've never learned how to get a mod working on a server.

This is basically what he told me:
"If my friend tries to join me on the test map I crash. I tried another map and he's not seeing his weapons, and sees me as a ghost firing a MG. There's maybe more bugs."

You can test about 99% of server issues locally. Just use the Dedicated server.exe to launch a server and join that locally (you can use the BF Server Manager for that, right from your game dir).

The BF42 engine net play does not really differ for local or online based connections. That's how I used to backcheck my moddings back in the old days, when they had to be online conquest compatible and nothing else. I also had some issues that were seeminlgy server-only, but I could solve all by the above approach.

I got an error:
"Too many Statemasks"

What does this mean?

Thanks for the link.

[Edit] LOL. I pulled an "Invalid CD Key" on myself! Yeah, looks like it's time to make a disk image.

Okay. I have a video showing three recordings of what I saw. I don't know what is causing these problems because I've never done server related testing for BF1942.

[DeletedVideo]

I don't understand this.

with the engineer or grease monkey, i think i remembering running into the same problem when tried to beef up the exppack magazine

i think most of the problems you have is network related, the exppacks for example has networkinfo on every projectile, not just the weapon. it propably just more netinfo then the bfserver can handle

Okay. I tried that and it worked. Yes, it was because my ExpPack and Landmine had 8 each instead of 4.

Another issue I found before making that video was that my B17 and Ju88A have an automatic bomb drop (so 12 FireArms for 12 bombs, timed differently) and each one was networked with AI. So I got rid of all the networkInfos and the AI for the bombs except for the first one.
