Guys im new in here but i really need some help with modding my Midway map.
I did all the WinRFA stuff but i want to add more vehicles in the Midway map at differents coords to respawn.
Finding the coords by flying, driving or walking to it and typing in console "console.showstats 1"is a no go.
The position numbers are unreadable and dont match with coords given in the con files.
Acoording to this forum and tutorials i`ve read the best way is with Battlecraft.
I installed it but in no way i can open the Midway map to find the correct coords were i want new or more vehicles to respawn at.
Is there any tool for finding/getting and adding coords in the BF 1942 maps.
I`m googling already whole day and cant find anything.
I really need some help to get that coords on the map to edit my mod files.
Thx already

Re: Need help with finding coords in Midway map
You were doing good until you tried to load the map in BattleCraft. You have to unpack the Midway.RFA into the unpacked thing, then load it.
To add a vehicle when the map is unpacked, go into the conquest, co-op, etc game modes and open ObjectSpawnTemplates.con, and add your vehicles/ objects into the spawner templates. Then, add the spawners in desired absolute position, in the ObjectSpawns.con.
P.S. CON files can be opened in notepad, or advanced notepad. (Advanced notepad? how is that possible!

A picture is worth a thousand words, but takes up three thousand times the memory.

Please explaine that part a bit more.Vilespring wrote: You have to unpack the Midway.RFA into the unpacked thing, then load it.
I think you missing my point here.Vilespring wrote: To add a vehicle when the map is unpacked, go into the conquest, co-op, etc game modes and open ObjectSpawnTemplates.con, and add your vehicles/ objects into the spawner templates. I know how to edit those .con files but i need a way or tool to get the absolute position coordinates.
The tutorial is not fully correct in this part how to do this.
Yes it says go into the game and start the map Midway, type console.showstats 1 and look at the position coords.
But if i do that the number that shows up is fat more bigger than the X,Y,Z coords i have to edit to get the correct spawn point/place on the map.
Somehow i have to load the Midway map into Battlecraft and find the correct absolute position coords where i want to add extra spawn points for vehicles.
As soon as i start up that damn Battlecraft it gives me a popup with 3 tabs, Open level, create level and quit program.
There is no way i can load the map midway to find my coords in that map.
For example i want to add an extra plaine behind the hangar on airfield, but i need the coords to place into the con file.
Just like this example i need more coords to edit in the con files were either a plain spawns or a tank etc etc.
How can i load the map Midway into Battlecraft to find that coords?
Sorry i cant explain it any better than this.
Re: Need help with finding coords in Midway map
Here are my words of advice: Don't ever use Battlecraft unless you're making a new map from scratch. Basically, it's only useful to get a good set of default map files before you begin making a new map. Instead, get used to using Editor '42 (Ed'42) to edit your maps. It is very manual, but that's one of the best things about the program. Battlecraft '42 causes problems because it tries to be automated when it comes to saving and opening maps (you have less control).
Open your map's ".rfa" file using Battlefield Game Archive Tool (BGA) or another RFA tool. Extract everything to a desired location, such as the desktop or a Battlefield development folder you use to edit BF files. After doing your edits, just Pack the map's parent folder (always named "bf1942") and save it over your old RFA.
You can get the coordinates in Ed'42 after loading your map and placing an object.

Re: Need help with finding coords in Midway map
Very much thnks Swaffy im going to try that out later and let you guys know if evrything went well ok.
Indeed Battlecraft sucks for this kind of editting.
I really need the correct coordinates first and write them down before i can edit and pass it all into the con files.
Without coords nothing will respawn on the place i want, but i will let you guys know for sure.
Thanks for advice so far.
* O yes one question about the RFA files of Midway, do i need to extract all 3 rfa files to the same directory because the Midway_000.rfa seems to be a dds file only?

Re: Need help with finding coords in Midway map
Extract them from bottom-up. Extract "Midway.rfa" first, then "Midway_000", then however the number counts upward.

Re: Need help with finding coords in Midway map
Swaffy,
I did exacly as you said above.
Extract the 3 Midway.rfa files to my BFdev folder thats also linked in the ED42 path setup to find these files.
But after starting up ED42 --->Open-->levels-->Midway ( Midway contains all extracted folders and con files from the 3 Midway.rfa files)
i get an error dialog screen with the message: Could not load the level.Editor42 will load a blank level instead.
After pressing ok the other dialog screen with the blue loading bar in and the message above: loading level [Midway]: Generating collision meshes, stopped and brakes off.
So nothing is loading.
What im doing wrong here, did i mis something or over see anything?
Edit: Got it working now, finally. Adding some vehicles etc etc.
Now only thing i need to know is how to repack the modded Midway map so others on Internet can play it without getting errors.
See a lot of modded maps online that i can login to and play without problems. No error messages and asking to update maps.

Re: Need help with finding coords in Midway map
Well, the server stuff has to be done SSM. I don't have enough knowledge on that subject to answer any questions about it, but some other guys here do.
