WARNING! I am unsure of the legalities of using un-authorized wifi signals! Use at your own risk!

To speed up your wifi connection to your neighbours unsecured router or your own . Buy yourself a chrome salad/mixing bowl from the grocery store, some 2 sided tape or glue gun from the hardware store & a wireless-n usb adapter from the computer store. Glue wifi adapter to inside center of bowl & make a cheap stand out of something, like a folded up coat hanger. Voila, uve just made a parabolic dish to suck up more signal from your neighbours. Just point dish at neighbours house.

Re: Legalities, if neighbours wifi router welcomes peeps to the network then your ok. If no welcome, then not legal. I seem to remember a lawsuit in Phoenix that settled with the person stealing the wifi having a valid defense because the router had an open welcome SIDD that was being broadcast.

If not welcoming, then the suit may have gone a different direction.

But there are other defenses too...
