Castles and Lightmaps..

Just a few screens of a castle I have been making and also lightmapping in max. never been lightmapping stuff I made previously and its very nice to have them looking their best now. The castle started off as a simple project for something to lightmap but i have really got into it. Its made in sections to easily plug together however you like. I've got internal lighting (candles/torchlight) to do and more parts to make including working drawbridge and portcullis. I'll be sure to bore you with more pics soon ;)

i know nothing about these lightmaps that ppl speak of, but is it possible to use them to make... say street lights or spot lights? Are they somehow apart of the meshes? nice castle object too... very detailed!

heh thanks, Im too scared of committing to a mod team atm but if if this turns out well as a map I will be offering it up to them!

and Coroner.. yes it does everything you asked.. Its not part of the mesh as such.. well.. its a seperate bit of texture coordinated in the mesh file to deal with lighting..
I did a bit of a tut the other day which I will post up. it needs a little editing.

heres an example of an earlier version of the model with lightmaps on and off. (i just hit escape and went into video options to turn off.. nothing is baked onto the textures as such)
big difference..

Yeah, me too. I ended up rewriting their entire mod years ago for my own purposes adding additional maps, functionality, and, of course, a loBOTomy. LOL. I'd love to see your work in there.
