Since 2015 my mod has been crashing due to an unknown cause. None of the debugger stuff told me a cause and I kept getting a non-descriptive runtime error. I thought my mod was 100% done for good because I had no clue how to fix the issue. Recently I got on my feet and started messing with the files, comparing my working backup to the latest (broken) version I normally work on.
Good news: I've narrowed it down to Objects.rfa but will be digging deeper to narrow the cause even more.
Updates to follow.
[Edit] Okay... I am unable to drag-and-drop any folders/files into BGA.
- Tried running as administrator and without,
- Tried replacing BGA files with fresh ones from the ZIP,
- Tried searching some stuff on Google but didn't find a solution,
- Then lastly I tried restarting my computer but none of these worked.
(Solved) Control Panel > User Accounts > Change User Account Control Settings > Move slider down to 0 (turn off UAC), save, then restart computer.

Re: Updates On My Mod Crashing
I somehow got my mod working with the data from my most recent (broken) version. One by one I replaced the folders in my older working Objects.rfa in order to narrow down what file may be causing the crash, but once I replaced literally every file/folder with the supposedly "broken" ones my mod kept working.
My only guess is that the Objects.rfa itself, not its contents, was corrupted in some way and caused the crash that made me nearly give up on my mod forever. Once the Objects.rfa and every other file was updated I did another run test and my mod runs fine without the runtime crash.
It feels really good to finally play with some of the large changes I made, and without any data loss.

Re: Updates On My Mod Crashing
If you mean BGA as in that program to make .rfa files with, then you need to know that you cant open those file later with winrfa. Something is effed, i dont dare use it.

I never liked WinRFA anyway, so doesn't bother me.freddy wrote:If you mean BGA as in that program to make .rfa files with, then you need to know that you cant open those file later with winrfa. Something is effed, i dont dare use it.

Happy that you got your mod working at last.
When will you be releasing it? I would like to try it out.

I'm getting some things done along with new ideas. Honestly it feels really good to be working on it again. Right now I don't wanna say much since there's a lot to do.Classical Modder wrote:Happy that you got your mod working at last.

Re: Updates On My Mod Crashing
Good to see people working on their mods again. This site seemed dead after the bots invaded it. I would work on my own mod, but I just can't find enough motivation to bother doing so.
