... but would like some advice/tips on how I can get them converted to work (or be editable) in 3DS MAX 7.
Which 3DS MAX version should I use to edit the ".max" file types? I am sure I can edit them in a new version of 3DS MAX then bring them into 3DS MAX 7 to convert to BF1942.
OH! Here are the models if you want to mess with them! They look very nice.

Re: I have some MW3 weapons in ".obj" and ".max"
Have you tried to open .max files directly in 3ds Max 7? If it doesn't work you can import .obj files with File->Import function, but there can be some problems with texture coordinates
Re: I have some MW3 weapons in ".obj" and ".max"
I believe those MAX files are for a newer version, because I get a message like this:
Unknown class, no stand-in: SuperID =0xB60, CladdID =(0x4A0C66E1,0x1513165)
But I did import the OBJ into MAX 7. I didn't remember that I can change the Browse filter's file type from .3DS to OBJ.
Now I know about all of the file types I can work with! Thanks.

If I get the models converted into BF'42 files, would you guys be interested in downloading the models?
